野 "Joo Ho-young's Speech Must Start from Thorough Self-Reflection, Not Blaming Others"

[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] On the 14th, the Democratic Party of Korea criticized Joo Ho-young, floor leader of the People Power Party, saying, "We hope he keeps in mind that the restoration of trust in politics must start from thorough self-reflection, not blaming others."

Lee Su-jin, the Democratic Party floor spokesperson, criticized Joo’s speech using expressions such as 'self-contradiction' and 'disembodiment' in a written briefing.

In his speech that day, Floor Leader Joo criticized the lack of national decision-making ability and called for self-reflection in the political sphere. In particular, he criticized the Moon Jae-in administration and the Democratic Party’s parliamentary management style, pointing out that "the entire five years of the Democratic Party government is a history of double standards."

Spokesperson Lee responded to Joo’s criticism by saying, "The Yoon Seok-yeol government and the People Power Party have brought about the crisis themselves and are recklessly exploiting it," adding, "There is no vision or sense of responsibility from the ruling party, and they are shifting the blame for the crisis onto the previous government and the opposition."

He asked, "Who is causing the current political distrust?" and retorted, "What kind of government is it that undermines democracy by summoning the leader of the main opposition party in a salami-style investigation?" He also mentioned the Itaewon disaster, diplomatic scandals, heating bill shocks, and public utility fee hikes, questioning, "What responsibility has the Yoon Seok-yeol administration taken for the series of disasters to even talk about restoring trust in politics?"

He continued, "The Yoon Seok-yeol administration, which has done nothing but pretend to respond after the fact to soaring heating costs, high inflation, and high interest rates, is not a firefighter for the livelihood and economic crisis but the source of the crisis," he criticized.

The Justice Party also criticized the Yoon Seok-yeol government’s efforts at bipartisan cooperation.

Kim Hee-seo, senior spokesperson for the Justice Party, said in a written briefing that day, "There has been no apology or reflection on the unilateralism and destruction of cooperation by the president, who has not met with opposition and ruling party leaders even once since taking office," adding, "The People Power Party must write a sincere confession acknowledging its responsibility as the ruling party that has forgotten the responsibilities and duties of the National Assembly to represent the people and has become merely a presidential mood security service."
