[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced on the 14th that the Gyeongnam branch of the Korean Red Cross donated 240 warm heating tents (valued at 10 million KRW) to be used for energy-vulnerable groups.
The indoor heating tents block drafts and retain warmth, making them helpful items for reducing heating costs for elderly people living alone or energy-vulnerable groups.
The Korean Red Cross Gyeongnam Chapter donated heating tents to Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, to be used for energy-vulnerable groups.
The 240 heating tents donated this time will be delivered directly to homes by Red Cross members after recommendations are made by each eup, myeon, and dong for low-income elderly living alone and energy-vulnerable groups.
Kim Jong-gil, Chairman of the Gyeongnam branch of the Korean Red Cross, said, “We will extend a warm helping hand whenever and wherever it is needed for marginalized and struggling neighbors,” adding, “We will do our best in the neighborly love practice movement as a light that brightens the dark places of our society.”
Jo Myeong-rae, the 2nd Deputy Mayor, said, “The heating tents will not only reduce heating costs for vulnerable groups who endure winter with electric blankets due to the burden of heating expenses in cold weather, but also warm the hearts of elderly people living alone with added warmth.”
