[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 14th that it was selected as the best institution for three consecutive years in the ‘2022 Comprehensive Civil Service Evaluation’ jointly hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.

Gwangju Buk-gu Selected as the Best Institution in Comprehensive Civil Service Evaluation

The comprehensive civil service evaluation is conducted annually targeting central government ministries, metropolitan and basic local governments to proactively provide services desired by the public and improve inadequate civil complaint handling.

This evaluation was conducted by summing scores of five categories: ▲civil administration strategy and system ▲operation of civil complaint systems ▲handling of civil complaints through the National Sinmungo ▲handling of grievance complaints ▲civil complaint satisfaction, and assigning evaluation grades (A to E) to each institution.

Accordingly, Buk-gu received the highest grade ‘A’ and was honored as the only institution in Gwangju to be selected as the best institution for three consecutive years.

It also secured financial incentives such as a commendation from the Minister of the Interior and Safety and special allocation tax.

Buk-gu received high evaluations for operating various civil service policies such as a one-stop civil complaint window, free legal counseling office, as well as the institution head’s on-site communication administration including visits to livelihood sites and dialogues with residents.

In addition, Buk-gu earned good scores for efforts to activate local ombudsman activities by enacting ordinances to protect the rights of civil service officers in charge of civil complaints, operating grievance committees, and mobile Sinmungo.

Moon In, Mayor of Buk-gu, said, “This selection as the best institution is the result of continuous efforts by all public officials in Buk-gu to improve civil services,” and added, “We will continue to provide civil services that satisfy residents through discovering various policies and communication administration.”
