[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City is stepping up to provide emergency housing support for victims of jeonse fraud. This involves renting public rental housing to victims of jeonse fraud at prices lower than the market rate.
On the 14th, the city announced that it will implement emergency housing support measures to protect victims of jeonse fraud.
The measures focus on providing public rental housing to tenants who urgently need housing support due to forced eviction among the victims of jeonse fraud.
The support targets tenants confirmed to have suffered damages due to non-return of deposits and who require housing support due to eviction orders, with the damage verified by the Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG) Jeonse Damage Support Center.
When the Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation notifies the city of individuals needing housing support, the city, Korea Land and Housing Corporation, and Daejeon Urban Corporation will sign usage contracts and provide available units of purchased rental housing owned by Korea Land and Housing Corporation and Daejeon Urban Corporation as temporary residences.
At this time, the housing rent will be set at 30% or less of the market price, and residents can stay for six months. The residence period can be extended up to a maximum of two years if necessary.
For more detailed information regarding temporary housing support for victims of jeonse fraud, inquiries can be made through the city hall Housing Policy Division.
Meanwhile, the Jeonse Damage Support Center received a total of 2,358 damage cases from September last year to the end of January this year. Among these, 23 cases were confirmed to have been reported in Daejeon.
