[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Lee Jeong-mi, leader of the Justice Party, announced that she is preparing a special prosecutor investigation not for Daejang-dong but for the 'Hwacheon Daeyu 5 Billion Club'.
On the 14th, on MBC's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus', Lee said, "With the recent verdict on former lawmaker Kwak Sang-do's (son), it is difficult for the prosecution's protective investigation and the court's inadequate ruling to avoid criticism.

Lee explained the reason for focusing on the '5 Billion Club', saying, "It is not just important to propose the special prosecutor law, but the special prosecutor must actually be activated within the National Assembly. If the scope of the special prosecutor is broadened to cover the entire Daejang-dong case, it will be very difficult to reach an agreement within the National Assembly."
She added, "Regarding the '5 Billion Club', the People Power Party first raised the issue in 2021, and at that time, former leader Lee Jun-seok strongly called for a special prosecutor, so neither the Democratic Party nor the People Power Party has any reason to oppose handling the 5 Billion Club special prosecutor investigation. This is a special prosecutor investigation that can create an agreement to use the authority of the National Assembly to investigate what the prosecution failed to properly investigate."
She also explained that it is ultimately linked to the Daejang-dong special prosecutor investigation. Lee said, "Starting with the 5 Billion Club special prosecutor investigation, as the investigation proceeds properly, investigations into various related areas will also begin. First, if an agreement is made on the special prosecutor law regarding the 5 Billion Club issue, and if it is determined through proper investigative procedures that other areas need to be further investigated, those who agreed to the special prosecutor cannot say that those areas should never be touched."
The Democratic Party also holds the position that former special prosecutor Park Young-soo, one of the members of the 5 Billion Club, should be revealed. Lee said, "Former special prosecutor Park is naturally included among the special prosecutor targets. Since he is related to the 5 Billion Club, if during the process of investigating the guilt or innocence of Park Young-soo special prosecutor any issues arise, those will also be subject to investigation."
