Sharing Operational Status and More at the First Meeting on the 14th
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] The Ministry of Education will form a consultative body centered on metropolitan and provincial offices of education and universities to prepare supplementary measures for the high school credit system, and will hold the first meeting on the 14th.
Earlier, on the 18th of last month, the Ministry of Education agreed to finalize supplementary measures related to the high school credit system and the achievement evaluation system at a meeting between the Deputy Prime Minister and metropolitan and provincial superintendents of education.
Accordingly, a consultative body consisting of 17 members, including representatives from metropolitan and provincial offices of education, university admissions officials, academic experts, and teachers, was formed.
The consultative body will focus on reviewing the supplementary measures that the Ministry of Education has prepared after inspecting the current status of the high school credit system operation.
In particular, it will discuss measures to strengthen teachers' achievement evaluation capabilities to enhance the reliability of evaluation results, inspection and management measures to reinforce the fairness of the achievement evaluation system, and will intensively discuss the scope and methods of applying the achievement evaluation system as well as detailed operational plans following the introduction of the subject completion system.
At this first meeting, under the theme "The High School Credit System and Achievement Evaluation System as Viewed by Universities and High Schools," the current status of the operation of the high school credit system and achievement evaluation system, requests from the field, and key issues for future focused discussion will be shared and organized.
Based on the focused discussions of the consultative body, the Ministry of Education plans to finalize and announce the "Supplementary Measures for the High School Credit System" within the first half of this year.
Oh Seung-geol, Director of the Ministry of Education's Responsible Education Policy Office, explained, "Since students and parents have great interest in the high school credit system and achievement evaluation system, we will strive to finalize supplementary measures promptly through sufficient communication and discussion with metropolitan and provincial offices of education and universities."
