Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam and Save the Children Korea Sign 'Child Rights Promotion Agreement'

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, signed a business agreement on the 13th with Save the Children Korea to establish a protection system for the promotion of children's rights and safety through the ‘Children's Rights Awareness Promotion Project.’


At the signing ceremony, 15 people attended, including Lee Sang-geun, the county governor, Jeong Tae-young, president of Save the Children, staff from the Gyeongnam Children's Rights Center, related public officials, and representatives from child facilities.

The main contents of the agreement include three projects aimed at children's rights education and creating safe institutions for children: ▲‘Visiting Children's Rights School,’ which offers children's rights education using films and workbooks tailored to children's perspectives by accepting applications from 30 elementary, middle, and high school classes in the district ▲‘Creating Safe Institutions for Children,’ which supports operating expenses for safe institutions targeting all daycare centers in the district and provides children's rights education for childcare workers and parents ▲‘Green Remodeling Project for Climate Crisis Response,’ which supports eco-friendly environment improvement projects and operating expenses for climate crisis response programs at six local children's centers.


President Jeong said, “I am grateful to Goseong-gun for enabling broad participation from not only child care institutions but also local organizations related to child safety to create a safe Goseong-gun for children.”


Governor Lee said, “I am pleased to work with Save the Children to promote a truly child-friendly city. I appreciate Save the Children’s support not only for children's rights education but also for various projects for Goseong-gun. This year, Goseong-gun will make greater efforts to respect children's rights and ensure their safety.”


Save the Children, an international children's rights NGO, carries out activities to create an environment where children can be safe by protecting children's rights through education and establishing safe institutions, with the vision of “creating a world where all children fully enjoy the rights to survival, protection, development, and participation.”
