[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority announced on the 13th that starting next month, the closed waterfront road in Dalbit Park in Songdo International City District 1 and the area around Landmark City No. 1 Sports Park in District 8 will be opened to allow bicycle passage.
Until now, this road had been closed due to residents' complaints caused by illegal parking and unauthorized dumping of garbage, which severely damaged the urban aesthetics, and general vehicle access had been restricted.
Before opening the road, the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority plans to partially open three closed fences of the temporary construction road to connect a 1.3 km bicycle passage. They will also complete environmental maintenance by the end of this month, including repairing severely damaged and uneven pavement and slopes, installing usage guideline signs, and attaching reflective tape for nighttime safety.
In this regard, Director Kim Jinyong recently visited the closed road scheduled to be opened to inspect the surrounding environment.
Director Kim said, "Songdo International City is a city optimized for walking, running, and cycling, with parks and green spaces arranged in a grid pattern. We will continue to connect the fragmented pedestrian and bicycle paths to become an eco-friendly ecological city."
