Promotion of Proper Disposal Methods for Expired Pharmaceuticals
Innocean announced on the 13th that it will conduct a Safe Disposal Bag campaign for expired and abandoned pharmaceuticals to improve social awareness of the misuse of such drugs and to inform the public about the correct disposal methods.
This campaign was conducted in collaboration with Sejong City, the Korea Post, the Ministry of Environment, the Sejong City Pharmaceutical Association, the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service, and the Post Office Public Foundation. After a pilot operation in Sejong City, the results will be reviewed for potential nationwide expansion.
According to a survey by the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service, only 8% of expired pharmaceuticals are returned through pharmacies or similar channels. To improve this social awareness, the Safe Disposal Bag campaign video will be broadcast through TV, theaters, and social networking services (SNS) to deliver the message of proper disposal methods to many people.
An Innocean official stated, “We hope that through this campaign, many people will learn and practice the correct disposal methods for expired pharmaceuticals,” adding, “We will continue to strive to create positive campaigns that consider public health and the environment.”
