Jung Mong-kyu HDC Group Chairman's Eldest Son, Jung Jun-seon Wedding Ceremony

A large number of prominent figures from politics, business, and broadcasting attended the wedding of Jung Jun-seon, a professor at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and the eldest son of Jung Mong-gyu, chairman of HDC Group (formerly Hyundai Development Company).

According to business circles on the 12th, Professor Jung held his wedding ceremony on the 11th at Jeongdong Church in Jung-gu, Seoul, marrying Kim Mo, a dentist.

Professor Jung is the eldest son of Chairman Jung Mong-gyu and the eldest grandson of the late Jung Se-young, honorary chairman of Hyundai Development Company, who was the fourth younger brother of the late Jung Ju-young, honorary chairman of Hyundai Group.

He studied at Eton School in the UK and earned his master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Oxford. As an expert in artificial intelligence (AI), he gained attention when he was appointed as a KAIST professor at the age of 29 in 2021.

He researches machine learning, speech signal processing, and computer vision. During his doctoral studies at Oxford, he collaborated with DeepMind, a Google subsidiary, to develop AI technology. In 2018, he served as a military service exemption personnel at Naver's in-house independent company (CIC) 'SearchNClova,' which develops AI-based search technology.

The wedding ceremony held at 3 p.m. at Jeongdong First Methodist Church in Jung-gu, Seoul, was attended by about 900 business figures, including members of the extended Hyundai family.

Attendees included Jung Mong-jun, chairman of the Asan Foundation; Hyun Jeong-eun, chairwoman of Hyundai Group; Sohn Kyung-shik, chairman of CJ Group; Lee Boo-jin, president of Hotel Shilla; and Koo Ja-eun, chairman of LS Group. Former KBS announcer Noh Hyun-jung, who married Jung Dae-sun, president of HN, in 2006, also appeared at the wedding.

From Hyundai Motor Group, Jung Myung-yi, the second daughter of honorary chairman Jung Mong-gu, president of Hyundai Commercial, and her husband Jung Tae-young, chairman of Hyundai Card, were present.

Outside the extended Hyundai family, Lee Boo-jin, president of Hotel Shilla, attracted attention by attending. Some business figures such as Sohn Kyung-shik, chairman of CJ Group, and Koo Ja-eun, chairman of LS Group, also attended. Former lawmaker Na Kyung-won of the People Power Party was also present at the wedding.

It was reported that figures from the sports and entertainment industries also attended the wedding. Former South Korean national football team players Kim Byung-ji, Hwang Sun-hong, and Lee Cheon-soo, as well as table tennis player Yoo Seung-min, an International Olympic Committee (IOC) athlete representative, were present. Actress Lee Young-ae also attended the ceremony with her husband, Jung Ho-young, former chairman of Korea Raycom.
