Party Leader Candidates Divided by Cutoff... "I Was Lacking"

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the 10th, the People Power Party announced the results of the preliminary primary (cut-off) for the party leadership election, resulting in mixed feelings among the candidates. The People Power Party announced that candidates Kim Ki-hyun, Ahn Cheol-soo, Chun Ha-ram, and Hwang Kyo-ahn advanced to the main election.

Yoon Sang-hyun, who was eliminated in the cut-off, immediately after the announcement posted on his social media (SNS), "I was lacking. From now on, I will listen humbly to the voices of party members and the public and work together."

He added, "I will strive for party unity and additive politics, which I have consistently appealed for. I will do everything I can for the victory in the metropolitan area in next year's general election," and "I sincerely thank everyone who supported me."

Kim Ki-hyun, who passed the cut-off, said, "Thank you for your support. I will repay you with a landslide victory in the main election," and "I congratulate the three candidates who advanced to the main election, and I also express my regrets to Yoon Sang-hyun and Cho Kyung-tae, who unfortunately did not make it to the final round."

He added, "Now, we face a fierce process including seven joint debates and five broadcast debates. There should be policy competition and vision competition, not negative remarks that cause frowns," and "I will do my best to ensure that the party convention delivers a message of hope to the people and party members and becomes a place of harmony."

Chun Ha-ram said, "Since my candidacy announcement, I have been running breathlessly for a week. I sincerely thank the party members who gave me the opportunity to compete in the main election," raising his voice, "It is the desperate appeal of party members that the party should no longer regress."

He said, "'Breaking away from old practices' is the sure-win strategy for winning the general election," and "I will definitely surpass the two major forces and become the People Power Party leader who revitalizes the party."
