Kuksundang announced on the 10th that all 30,000 bottles of ‘Baekseju 30,’ released at the end of last December to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Baekseju, have been sold out.


‘Baekseju 30’ is brewed using a new method developed by Kuksundang, based on the existing Baekseju fermentation technology and research into traditional methods of making fragrant liquor introduced in old literature. The content of high-quality ingredients such as ginseng, goji berries, and omija, which are the main ingredients of Baekseju, was significantly increased. Additionally, the flavor was maximized through a total of 100 days of soaking and fermentation processes. The bottle design uses Baekseju’s distinctive slim-waisted bottle to express the 30-year history of Baekseju.


Kuksundang cited the popularity of ‘Baekseju 30’ as being due to its excellent aroma and the richer flavor created by the increased ingredient content. The alcohol content was developed at 15%, higher than the regular Baekseju (13%), delivering a rich and harmonious aroma and taste. This characteristic is analyzed to have hit the preferences of consumers who recently value the flavor of alcoholic beverages.


In addition to the single ‘Baekseju 30’ product, the ‘Baekseju 30 Limited Edition Package,’ which includes three additional bottles and a dedicated glass, gained popularity among liquor enthusiasts as a year-end gift and collectible. On social networking services (SNS), inquiries about where to purchase the Baekseju 30th anniversary limited edition package and information on stock quantities were shared, and some even contacted Kuksundang directly regarding purchases, showing high interest.


A Kuksundang official stated, “The 30,000 bottles prepared for Baekseju 30, released last December to commemorate the 30th anniversary, were all sold out in less than two months, and some people who could not obtain the product even contacted the company with purchase inquiries,” adding, “The complete sell-out of Baekseju 30 confirmed new possibilities in Korea’s premium medicinal liquor market.”


Since its launch in 1992, Baekseju has sold over 700 million bottles cumulatively. It is a liquor that embodies Korean history and culture, restoring the raw rice fermentation method of Baekhaju, a famous liquor from the Goryeo Dynasty, and naming the product inspired by the story of liquor brewed with goji berries. It was the first alcoholic beverage to be designated as an ‘Excellent Cultural Product’ by the government, recognized as a cultural product of Korea.
