Cash and In-Kind Support for Earthquake Victims
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Pyeonghwa] Samsung Electronics announced on the 10th that it will provide a total of 3 million dollars in cash and in-kind support for the victims suffering from the earthquake that occurred in Turkey.
Relief funds of 1.5 million dollars will be donated to the Turkey Disaster and Emergency Management Authority. In addition to the funds, items worth 1.5 million dollars will also be provided, including ▲portable ultrasound diagnostic devices needed at the disaster site ▲home appliances for temporary shelters for victims ▲digital education tablets for children of affected families ▲appliance repair service vehicles, etc.
Samsung Electronics employees will conduct fundraising activities for the affected areas separately from the company’s support.
Samsung has provided recovery support whenever domestic and international disasters or natural calamities have occurred. It donated 1 million dollars during the Haiti earthquake (2010) and the Philippines typhoon (2013). It also contributed during the Nepal earthquake (2015), the Indonesia Sulawesi Island earthquake (2018), and the Australia wildfires (2020).
