Manna Plus Delivery Worker Rescues Semi-basement Resident Trapped in Heavy Rain, Receives '119 Hero Award'

Mannaplus Singil Daerim Branch Manager Eun Seok-jun Named Among '9 Citizen Heroes' Selected by the Fire Agency

Manna Corporation's delivery agency brand Manna Plus announced that Eun Seok-jun, the branch manager of Singil Daerim branch, received the '119 Hero Award' selected by the National Fire Agency on the 2nd.

The '119 Hero Award' is given by the National Fire Agency to citizen heroes who risk their own safety to save the precious lives of those in danger. This year's '119 Hero Award' honored a total of nine great neighbors who rescued others during the flooding of semi-basement homes caused by last year's heavy rain in the metropolitan area.

Eun Seok-jun, branch manager of Manna Plus Singil Daerim branch, who was named in the 119 Hero Award, is known to have rescued a person trapped in a semi-basement by swimming through the corridor of a house after hearing about the incident on his way home after completing delivery work during the heavy rain damage in Sillim-dong in August last year.

After confirming he heard a person's voice, Eun went outside and, together with neighbors, broke a window and safely rescued a man in his twenties who was trapped. He sustained injuries to his arms and legs during the rescue process.

Previously, in October 2020, he witnessed a pedestrian being run over by a car at a crosswalk in Yeongdeungpo-gu and, along with bystanders, lifted the vehicle, continuing his consistent acts of kindness.

Recalling the flooding incident, Eun Seok-jun said, "There was no time to think about the danger; my body reacted first." He added, "Having worked in delivery for about 7 to 8 years, I have witnessed numerous traffic accidents and drunk driving incidents, which helped me gain experience in reporting. I even developed a habit of noting down license plate numbers of wanted vehicles after receiving them from the police."
