Com2uS Reports Annual Maximum Revenue of 714.7 Billion KRW... Operating Profit Turns to Loss

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Com2uS recorded its highest annual sales in 2022. However, operating profit turned to a loss.

Com2uS announced on the 10th that its sales last year increased by 28.4% compared to the previous year, reaching 717.4 billion KRW. This is the highest annual sales record. During the same period, operating loss was 16.6 billion KRW, and net loss was 9.4 billion KRW.

The operating profit turned to a loss due to increased marketing expenses from new game launches and increased outsourcing costs caused by the expanded content lineup produced by its media content subsidiaries.

Com2uS achieved its highest sales record thanks to the global success of its game business, including hit titles such as Summoners War: Sky Arena and Pro Baseball Lineup, as well as the new release Summoners War: Chronicle, combined with the investment results of media content affiliates like WYSIWYG Studio and MyMusicTaste. Last year, various contents such as the hit drama Jaebeoljip Maknae Adeul (The Youngest Son of a Chaebol Family), Shinbyeong, Black’s Bride, K-POP, and performances showed results after about a year of full-scale investment.

The game business division maintained a stable profit trend, but due to active investment expansion in new businesses such as metaverse and media content to build new growth engines, costs increased, resulting in a decrease in consolidated profit.

Com2uS aims to achieve annual sales of 1 trillion KRW this year through the full-scale performance of the game business led by multiple global new releases and the new business division.

In the game business division, the “100 billion KRW club” lineup will be expanded. In March and June, highly anticipated titles such as Chronicle and Zenonia will challenge the 100 billion KRW sales club. Currently, Summoners War records annual sales of over 300 billion KRW, and Pro Baseball generates sales of 120 billion KRW.

This year, about 10 new titles across various genres will target multiple user groups. Additionally, with individually designed structures maximizing each game’s unique features, P2O (Play to Own) titles incorporating Web3 values will be onboarded onto Com2uS Group’s blockchain mainnet, “XPLA.”

In the media content business division, the goal is to establish itself as one of the top three production companies in Korea by presenting about 30 titles this year. Through the media value chain of ‘AtoZ Entertainment,’ which was launched last year by integrating four affiliates, the production company of Jaebeoljip Maknae Adeul, RaemongRaein, and the film company Merry Christmas, dramas such as Shinbyeong Season 2, Accounting Firm, New Employee Kim Cheolsu, and films like The Murderer’s Shopping Mall and Drive are scheduled to be released within the year.

Com2verse recently successfully completed the beta test of its virtual office and is entering the final countdown to service launch. After multi-faceted coordination with various partner companies to build an advanced environment, the virtual office service will be commercialized within the second quarter. Subsequently, the convention center will open and private land sales will be conducted sequentially in the third quarter, marking the start of full-scale service.
