30s Man Arrested for Killing Convenience Store Owner, Cutting Electronic Ankle Bracelet, and Fleeing

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] A man in his 30s who killed a convenience store owner and cut off his location tracking electronic device (electronic anklet) to escape was caught two days later.

Incheon Gyeyang Police Station announced on the 10th that they arrested A (32) on charges of robbery and murder.

A was caught at around 6:30 a.m. that day while hiding in a motel in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, by the police and the Incheon Probation Office Rapid Investigation Team. It was revealed that after the crime, he wandered around Sosadong and Yeokgokdong areas in Bucheon by taxi or on foot before staying at the motel.

A is suspected of stabbing and killing convenience store owner B (33) with a weapon at a convenience store in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, at 10:52 p.m. on the 8th, then stealing money and fleeing.

B was found collapsed in front of the storage room inside the convenience store by a customer but was already dead.

According to the investigation, A entered the convenience store pretending to be a customer, looked around the display shelves, then called B to a corner and stabbed him with a weapon. After taking the cash from the register, he left the convenience store, damaged the electronic anklet he was wearing near an apartment in Gyeyang-gu around midnight, and fled by taxi.

A has repeatedly committed violent crimes such as special theft and robbery since 2007, when he was 16 years old.

In 2014, he stabbed a 40-year-old owner with a weapon at a used luxury goods store in Incheon, stole money, fled, was caught, and was prosecuted for robbery and injury. He was sentenced to seven years in prison and ordered to wear an electronic anklet for 10 years after release.

The police plan to apply for an arrest warrant after investigating the exact motive for the crime and the circumstances of the electronic anklet damage against A.
