170 Projects in 4 Major Policy Areas
[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Gangwon Province announced on the 10th that "this year, with the policy goal of realizing a Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province where the bodies and minds of residents are healthy, it will invest a total project cost of 324.8 billion KRW to promote 170 projects in 4 policy areas."
The province will invest 72.5 billion KRW in 50 projects to create an environment for lifelong health and strengthen food safety management. By sector, the investments include ▲Community Integrated Health Promotion 9.1 billion KRW ▲Smoking Cessation and Passive Smoking Prevention Support 4.8 billion KRW ▲Operation of Mental Health Welfare Centers 9.6 billion KRW ▲Operation of Metropolitan Dementia Centers and Dementia Relief Centers 11.8 billion KRW, among others.
To strengthen Gangwon's sports competitiveness and implement customized sports and welfare for residents, 122.5 billion KRW will be invested in 39 projects. These include ▲Operation of Gangwon Province (Disabled) Sports Association 17 billion KRW ▲Support for Community Sports Instructors 6.2 billion KRW ▲Support for Sports Class Vouchers for Underprivileged Groups 3.5 billion KRW ▲Sports Promotion Facilities such as Community Sports Parks 19.6 billion KRW ▲Community Sports Facilities such as National Sports Centers 25.7 billion KRW.
In particular, this year, in collaboration with the Disabled Sports Association of the province, a focused project will be promoted to provide employment consulting for sports jobs for disabled athletes targeting companies within the province.
For public medical services connecting people, regions, and the future, 89.6 billion KRW will be invested in 52 projects, including ▲Support for Vulnerable Areas in Childbirth 4.2 billion KRW ▲Health Management for Mothers and Newborns 3.6 billion KRW ▲Function Enhancement and Specialization Support for Medical Centers 35.1 billion KRW ▲National Cancer Management 6.4 billion KRW ▲Fostering Emergency Medical Institutions in Vulnerable Areas 3.4 billion KRW ▲Establishment of Rapid Transport Systems for Severe Emergency Patients 3.5 billion KRW, among others.
To complete the public health crisis response system for infectious disease preparedness, 40.2 billion KRW will be invested in 29 projects. These include ▲COVID-19 Vaccination 9.7 billion KRW ▲National Vaccination 23.4 billion KRW ▲Public Health Center National Tuberculosis Management Projects 2 billion KRW, among others.
Yoon Seung-gi, Director of the Health and Sports Bureau, said, "The importance of public healthcare in Gangwon Province has emerged due to COVID-19," adding, "We will systematically promote health and medical policies while maintaining vigilance against various infectious diseases."
