90-Day Stay in Goheung Provides Various Opportunities to Acquire Information
[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shim Jeong-woo] Jeollanam-do Goheung-gun (Governor Gong Young-min) announced on the 9th that ‘Sanghachon Village in Geumsan-myeon’ has been selected for the ‘Try Living in Jeonnam First’ project, a policy initiative to attract population to Jeonnam.
Sanghachon Village in Geumsan-myeon, selected as the project operation target, will run a customized program to attract urban residents for six months from April to November.
The ‘Try Living in Jeonnam First’ project allows those registered outside Jeonnam to stay in Goheung for up to 90 days, during which they can experience rural life, receive agricultural technology education, and acquire various information for settling in rural areas. It helps minimize trial and error by understanding cultural differences with original residents when returning to farming or relocating to rural areas.
Urban residents wishing to participate in the project can apply by selecting experience sites and periods on the ‘Try Living in Jeonnam First’ website starting March 1. If participants complete more than 70% of the program mission score, accommodation and participation fees are provided free of charge.
A county official said, “We hope this will be an opportunity for urban residents dreaming of returning to farming or relocating to rural areas to settle stably in rural life.”
Goheung-gun is promoting various support policies for living experiences to attract urban residents, such as ‘Youth Living in Goheung for 3 Months and Settling,’ ‘Try Living in Rural Areas,’ and operating the ‘House for Returning Farmers.’
