[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City plans to complete the Daejeon Yuseong Complex Terminal, focused on passenger facilities, by 2025.
On the 9th, Mayor Lee Jang-woo of Daejeon stated in a city administration briefing, “We have changed the construction of the Yuseong Terminal from a private investment method to a public development method using city finances (46 billion KRW), and reorganized the construction plan to focus on passenger facilities excluding housing.”
He also emphasized, “We will secure speed by shortening the project period by two years so that the project can be completed by 2025.”
According to the mayor, the Yuseong Terminal will be developed on a 15,000㎡ site, centered on passenger facilities such as waiting rooms, boarding and alighting areas, and offices. The currently temporarily operated Yuseong Intercity Bus Stop will continue to be used to reduce costs.
Additionally, to solve the habitual illegal parking problem around the terminal, 116 parking spaces will be expanded for intercity bus overnight parking and terminal users, and 210 nearby transfer parking spaces will be linked for use.
Besides the terminal site for passenger facilities, the existing terminal land will be divided, with 11,000㎡ of support facility land sold to the private sector, and 6,500㎡ of public office land secured as a reserve site in preparation for future public institution relocations.
The city plans to complete the necessary administrative procedures for the construction of the Yuseong Terminal, including review by the National Transportation Committee, approval by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and central investment review by the end of this year, proceed with design next year, and complete the terminal construction by the end of 2025.
The mayor said, “We will concentrate all the city’s capabilities to build the terminal, which has been a long-standing wish of Daejeon citizens,” and added, “We will ensure the transportation demand rights of citizens by promptly constructing the Yuseong Terminal.”
