Bucheon City Provides Up to 90% Support for Air Pollution Control Facility Costs at Small-Scale Businesses

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province has secured a budget of 3.6 billion KRW this year to promote the 'Small-scale Business Air Pollution Prevention Facility Installation Support Project.'

This project provides up to 90% support for the replacement and expansion of air pollution prevention facilities, as well as the installation costs of low-NOx burners and Internet of Things (IoT) devices, targeting small businesses vulnerable to environmental management due to lack of technology.

Low-NOx burners are high-performance burners that increase combustion efficiency by controlling flame temperature and oxygen concentration during fuel combustion, effectively reducing nitrogen oxides (NOx), which are a cause of fine dust.

The support targets small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) under Article 3, Paragraph 1 of the Enforcement Decree of the Framework Act on Small and Medium Enterprises, among businesses in the region, and air emission facilities (types 4 and 5) under Article 13 of the Enforcement Decree of the Air Quality Preservation Act.

Businesses receiving support are required to operate the installed prevention facilities mandatorily for three years, attach IoT devices for monitoring the prevention facilities, and transmit data to the Korea Environment Corporation's Small-scale Air Emission Facility Management System.

Businesses wishing to participate can apply by visiting or mailing the Gyeonggi-do Environmental Preservation Association by the 24th of this month.

A Bucheon City official stated, "This will help reduce the burden on businesses struggling to manage air emission facilities," and added, "We will continue to support small businesses to improve Bucheon's air environment."
