Yamaha Ladies Greet at KLPGA Championship
"Beautiful Golfer" Yoon Chae-young (photo) has confirmed her retirement match. A source familiar with domestic golf news hinted on the 9th, "Yoon Chae-young is retiring," adding, "She has decided to hold retirement matches in Korea and Japan."
Yoon Chae-young will greet Japanese golf fans at the Yamaha Ladies Open, a Japan Ladies Professional Golf Association (JLPGA) Tour event (total prize money of 100 million yen) held on March 30 at the Katsuragi Golf Club Yamana Course (par 72) in Fukuroi, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. Afterwards, on April 27, she will play her final round at the Chris F&C 45th KLPGA Championship (total prize money of 1.3 billion KRW), the first major tournament of the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour. Yamaha and Chris F&B are sponsors supporting Yoon Chae-young. She uses Yamaha golf clubs and wears Master Bunny and Phantom, brands of Chris F&B.
Yoon Chae-young is a popular golfer active in both Korea and Japan. She debuted on the KLPGA Tour in 2006 and created a dramatic moment by lifting the winner's trophy at the Jeju Samdasoo Masters in July 2014 after 160 tournaments. At that time, she added significance by defeating the "Golf Empress" Park In-bee. She maintained her tour card on the KLPGA Tour for 11 years, demonstrating consistent performance with stable results every year. Yoon joined the JLPGA Tour in 2017 and played for six years until last year. Although she did not win, she appeared in 159 tournaments, achieving four runner-up finishes and entering the top 10 a total of 24 times.
