Korea-US-Japan to Hold Deputy Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Washington on the 13th

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 8th that South Korea, the United States, and Japan will hold the 12th Trilateral Deputy Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Washington, USA, on the 13th.

The Korea-US-Japan Deputy Foreign Ministers' Meeting is a regular forum held to discuss trilateral cooperation measures on North Korea's nuclear issue and regional and global matters. South Korea will be represented by Cho Hyun-dong, First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs; the United States by Wendy Sherman, Deputy Secretary of State; and Japan by Takeo Mori, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, "At this meeting, Vice Minister Cho will have broad and in-depth discussions with Deputy Secretary Sherman and Vice Minister Mori on North Korea and the nuclear issue, cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region, and ways to strengthen trilateral cooperation on current international issues."

After the Korea-US-Japan Deputy Foreign Ministers' Meeting, Vice Minister Cho will also hold bilateral consultations with the US and Japanese sides. As the Korean and Japanese foreign authorities continue final discussions to seek a solution to forced labor issues, attention is focused on whether the two sides can narrow their differences on key issues.
