[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Yunha, director of the High-Risk Maternal and Neonatal Integrated Care Center at Jeonnam National University Hospital, has published the fourth volume of the medical guidebook for pregnant women, "Health Stories for Pregnant Women to Read in the Morning."
According to Jeonnam National University Hospital on the 8th, Director Kim held a publication ceremony for the fourth story of the guidebook for pregnant women the day before, attended by medical staff and patients who had been treated.
Director Kim is recognized as a leading expert in maternal-fetal medicine in Korea. He publishes booklets to provide diverse and useful medical information on prevention, treatment, and follow-up management for not only normal pregnancies but also the increasing number of high-risk pregnancies each year.
Since the first publication in 2017, this fourth edition, following those in 2019 and 2021, is divided into 10 major chapters including ▲Preparation for Pregnancy and Prenatal Care ▲Health and Medication Management during Pregnancy ▲Congenital Anomaly Screening ▲High-Risk Pregnancy ▲Delivery. Additionally, 11 chapters have been added, such as ▲Management of Pregnant Women with Overt Diabetes ▲Uterine Fibroids during Pregnancy ▲Ovarian Tumors during Pregnancy ▲Management of Twin Pregnancies ▲Postpartum Hair Loss and Skin Care.
In particular, 26 columns and contributions are included as appendices, covering topics such as ‘Vaccination is Necessary,’ ‘Delivery Fighting Spirit,’ and ‘Are High-Risk Mothers and Neonates in Gwangju and Jeonnam Safe?’
This book includes photos and illustrations for each topic to help the general public easily understand professional terms and content, and summarizes important treatment and management guidelines for quick reference.
Director Kim said, “At the High-Risk Maternal and Neonatal Integrated Care Center of Jeonnam National University Hospital, the last stronghold for treating high-risk mothers in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions, we have done our best to provide hope and courage to patients and their families through dedicated care. I hope this newly published book will serve as a guide for safe childbirth as well as the birth of healthy mothers and newborns.”
Meanwhile, Director Kim Yunha has contributed to the advancement of obstetrics and gynecology in Korea and abroad through diligent medical practice, research, education, volunteering, and active academic activities.
He served as president of the Korean Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine from 2018 to 2020, striving for research and development in maternal-fetal medicine in Korea. From 2019 to 2021, he was appointed as an elected member of the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) Safe Motherhood and Newborn Health Committee, participating as a Korean representative in creating global standard clinical guidelines.
Additionally, as chair of the High-Risk Pregnancy Committee of the Korean Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (2019?2021), he led the task force team for pregnant women’s care during the COVID-19 pandemic, establishing and distributing clinical protocols for medical staff when pregnant women were infected with COVID-19.
He devoted efforts to collecting and analyzing clinical cases in the Daegu region and overall maternal management in Korea. In recognition of these contributions, he was selected as a meritorious person for Pregnant Women’s Day and received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award in October last year.
