[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Regarding former lawmaker Na Kyung-won, who declared she would not run amid pressure from the pro-Yoon faction and expressed support for candidate Kim Ki-hyun, candidate Cheon Ha-ram, who is part of the 'Lee Jun-seok faction,' predicted that "a backlash will occur."
On the 8th, on MBC's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus,' candidate Cheon said, "This is a typical example of a supplier mindset stuck in Yeouido."
He pointed out that candidate Kim did not issue an apology message to former lawmaker Na. Candidate Cheon said, "If I were candidate Kim, I would have sent a message to former lawmaker Na saying, 'People tried to help me, but they ended up attacking excessively. I am truly sorry. And I regret not actively stopping that.' If former lawmaker Na appeared to be pressured into making a support declaration with an unwilling expression, her support base would not move for now."
On the same day, candidate Cheon recorded 17.7% in a public opinion poll conducted by Hangil Research targeting the general public, the same as candidate Kim. In the poll targeting supporters, he ranked third with 10.9%, but the faction of former leader Lee Jun-seok views this as an encouraging figure. For detailed information, please refer to the Central Election Poll Deliberation Commission website.
Candidate Cheon said, "This is very good news for the candidate himself and can actually be called a storm. I just posted on Facebook, somewhat excitedly, asking to be called 'Cheon Hurricane.' However, from the perspective of the People Power Party, the fact that a newcomer named Cheon Ha-ram is quickly tying with a candidate who has served four terms as a lawmaker and was the mayor of Ulsan, and is fully supported by the presidential office, shows how much resentment there is toward the so-called 'Yoon Core Group (Yoon Seok-yeol's key associates).'"
