Virtual Quantum Match: Kim Ki-hyun 52.6% vs Ahn Cheol-soo 39.3%
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] A poll has shown that candidate Kim Ki-hyun has overtaken candidate Ahn Cheol-soo in the People Power Party leadership race. In last week's survey, Kim trailed Ahn, but in this poll, he leads beyond the margin of error.
According to a poll released on the 8th by Realmeter (commissioned by Media Tribune, conducted from the 6th to 7th, targeting 1,100 men and women nationwide aged 18 and over (402 of whom are People Power Party supporters), conducted via automated response), Kim's support rate rose by 9.3 percentage points from last week to 45.3%. Ahn's support rate dropped by 12.9 percentage points to 30.4%. The difference between the two candidates was 14.9 percentage points, which is outside the margin of error (±4.9 percentage points).

In the previous survey (conducted from January 31 to February 1), Ahn's support rate was 43.3%, ahead of Kim's 36.0%. Realmeter explained, "The increase in Kim Ki-hyun's support appears to be due to former candidate Na Kyung-won, who recently announced she would not run, endorsing Kim."
Following them, candidate Chun Ha-ram had 9.4%, candidate Hwang Kyo-ahn 7.0%, candidate Cho Kyung-tae 2.3%, and candidate Yoon Sang-hyun 2.0% in the leadership candidate support rates.
In a hypothetical match-up between Kim and Ahn, Kim's support rate rose by 8.2 percentage points from the previous survey to 52.6%. Ahn's support rate fell by 9.6 percentage points to 39.3%. The percentages of respondents who answered "none" or "don't know" were 4.5% and 3.6%, respectively.
Regarding the likelihood of winning, Kim's rate increased by 2.7% from the previous survey to 47.1%. Ahn's rate decreased by 3.5% to 37.5%. Chun had 4.2%, Hwang 3.6%, Cho 1.8%, and Yoon 1.8% respectively.
The upcoming People Power Party leadership election on March 8 will be conducted entirely by party members without including general public opinion polls, making the intentions of party members absolutely crucial. For this reason, the poll was narrowed down to only People Power Party supporters (402 people) out of the total 1,100 respondents.
