Building an Aerospace Industry Belt in Collaboration with Nearby Cities and Counties Including the Space Aviation Agency, Anticipating Mutual Growth

Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongsangnam-do, made this statement on the afternoon of the 7th during a visit to the indoor gymnasium in Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam, where he had a dialogue session with about 200 residents.
At the dialogue with residents that day, Governor Park presented a vision to make this year a new starting point for Gyeongnam’s leap forward based on the achievements made together with the support and efforts of the residents, and to develop Goseong into a leading city in the future growth engine of the unmanned aerial vehicle industry.
Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongsangnam-do, is visiting the indoor gymnasium in Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam, and having a conversation with the residents.
He added that efforts are being made to promote investment by attracting promising companies in the aviation and drone sectors through infrastructure expansion, including the shipbuilding and marine industry special zone, while growing together as an aviation industry hub city along with Jinju and Sacheon in connection with the Space Aviation Agency and the National Aviation Industrial Complex.
Governor Park said, “Goseong is planning many projects linked to tourism resources and is creating a vision together with the residents,” and urged, “All residents should work together to seize this golden opportunity for regional development and realize its development potential.”
County Governor Lee Sang-geun explained major issues such as the creation of the Madongho ecological experience tourism zone and the promotion of the sports industry through the establishment of sports infrastructure during the dialogue with residents, and requested active provincial support for projects such as the road expansion between Hannae and Deokgok to ensure smooth logistics transport in the industrial complex.
Before the dialogue with residents, Governor Park visited the UAV comprehensive town construction site to hear about the project status. He then inspected the completed drone-exclusive flight test site and personally toured the UAV integrated test facility construction site.
The UAV comprehensive town was designated as an investment leading district last September to build an aviation industry belt and an urban air mobility demonstration base, with plans to establish various infrastructure including a corporate support center and a UAV industrial complex.
Gyeongsangnam-do has decided to work closely with Goseong-gun to smoothly promote local issues such as the operation of the ‘Sports Industry Promotion Hub Center’ and the creation of an ‘Indoor Baseball Practice Facility’ to develop a sports industry city through the expansion of sports infrastructure, the creation of the ‘Madongho Ecological Experience Tourism Zone,’ and the establishment of the ‘UAV Comprehensive Town Aviation Industry Belt.’
