[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Guardians who prepaid medical fees are facing difficulties not only in getting their money back but also in finding places to treat their children due to the sudden closure of a pediatric and adolescent clinic.
The Violent Crime Investigation Team 2 of the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 7th that they are investigating Clinic A, a pediatric and adolescent clinic in Busan, on charges of violating the Medical Service Act by conducting unlicensed treatment during a speech therapy clinic process.
Clinic A was a place that treated speech development disorders in young children, and victims prepaid one month's fees ranging from 500,000 won to 5,000,000 won.
Clinic A notified via text message that treatment was suspended due to personal reasons and that refunds would be processed sequentially, but it is known that many victims have not received their money back.
After Clinic A closed, guardians have been trying to find other hospitals for their children who need treatment, but due to the large number of people waiting, it is difficult to find alternative hospitals.
At the end of last month, a clinic using the same name as Clinic A suddenly closed in Gyeongnam as well. It has been identified that more than 100 children treated at the two clinics were affected, with significant financial damages.
The police identified the violation of the Medical Service Act by Clinic A at the end of last month and conducted a search and seizure, and the investigation is currently ongoing.
