On the 7th, through a post on his social network service (SNS), Governor Kim expressed his condolences, saying, "A strong earthquake occurred in T?rkiye, causing great damage in T?rkiye and the neighboring country Syria," and "I extend my deepest condolences to the people of both countries who are in great shock and sorrow."
He continued, "Gyeonggi-do will spare no effort to provide possible support such as medical aid, relief, and rescue," and promised, "We will urgently deliver 1 million dollars in relief funds through the Korean Red Cross."
In particular, he stated, "T?rkiye calls the Republic of Korea a 'brother country.' In Yongin City, there is a 'Monument to the Turkish Troops' commemorating their participation in the Korean War, and Istanbul Province and Gyeonggi-do have maintained friendly exchange and cooperation since 2012," expressing his active support by saying, "I hope that life-saving and recovery efforts proceed smoothly and that the damage from this strong earthquake will be overcome as soon as possible."
Governor Kim further emphasized, "Gyeonggi-do will maintain a high level of vigilance against various types of disasters and do its best to protect the safety of its residents."
