Police Conduct Search and Seizure Related to Illegal Activities of Construction Union

[Asia Economy Reporters Hwang Seoyul and Jang Sehee] The police are conducting a search and seizure at the Southwest Branch of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) Construction Union in connection with illegal activities at construction sites.

The Gangseo Police Station in Seoul dispatched 70 to 80 officers from around 9 a.m. on the 7th to secure investigation materials at the office of the KCTU Construction Union Southwest Branch located in Gaebong-dong, Guro-gu, Seoul.

The police are reportedly investigating the union for illegal acts such as coercion in hiring and extortion related to full-time union fees.
