Sancheong-gun Establishes Youth Development Team for Soccer Talent Nurturing Sports Club

Introduction of a Systematic Professional Coaching Team
Accelerating the Development of Talent Linked to the Existing Middle School Division

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] In Sancheong, Gyeongnam, known as the hometown of soccer, new sprouts are emerging to nurture soccer player talents. According to Sancheong-gun on the 7th, a youth development class for elementary school students was established in the sports club, and about 50 players are sweating it out in training.

The youth development class, which recruited members by grade from local elementary schools, completed its establishment process in November last year and began full-scale training in December. They receive guidance from directors and coaches three times a week after school, building solid fundamentals.

In particular, through systematic training by professional coaches, they conduct specialized and diverse training such as skill and dribbling practice. Despite the cold winter weather and harsh conditions, they passionately pursue soccer and diligently follow their schedules.

Although they are currently receiving basic training in the development class, their dreams are grand. Their dream is to stand on the world stage like Son Heung-min, captain of the South Korean national soccer team.

They also have the ambition to represent Sancheong and surpass Coach Park Hang-seo, who is revered as a national hero in Vietnam, to promote Sancheong to the world, dedicating themselves to training every day.

They said, “Training consistently every week, we can see our skills improving noticeably,” and “We want to become world-class soccer players and widely promote Sancheong.”

They added, “While participating in the soccer club, we have made many friends and enjoy training,” and “We will train even harder in the future to grow into good players.”

Sancheong-gun plans to accelerate the nurturing of soccer talents with the establishment of this youth development class.

Until now, Sancheong-gun had difficulties recruiting talents due to the absence of an elementary division, but through this establishment, it plans to connect with the U-15 middle school division and focus on transforming Sancheong into a soccer mecca.

An official from the county said, “We established the elementary youth development class to discover local soccer talents in Sancheong, the hometown of soccer,” and “We will do our best to provide administrative support so that young soccer hopefuls can fully realize their dreams.”

Sancheong-gun has well-established soccer infrastructure, attracting nationwide youth soccer teams as well as middle school, high school, and university teams for training camps every year. Six soccer fields, including Saengcho 1 and 2 fields and centrally located areas, along with excellent public sports facilities, are considered optimal conditions for training sites.

Earlier, from December 26 last year, 346 members from 10 soccer teams, including Yongin University and Jecheon Jeil High School, visited Sancheong for winter training camps.
