Yoon Yoon-sik, Executive Director at Naver, Publishes 'It's Horrible, So I Run Again Today'

[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Choi] Won Yunsik, Executive Director of Naver and known as 'Maettwinam,' has published a book related to running titled "It's Horrible, So I Run Today as Well."

The author is an external communication expert who has worked at Hyundai Oilbank and Daum (now Kakao). Since 2007, he has been working at Naver. Currently, he is in charge of Naver's public relations and external communications.

The author started running after suddenly suffering a myocardial infarction over 20 years ago. The exercise, which began as a way to recover his damaged body and regain health, has now become a part of his daily life.

For the past eight years, he has transformed from a health runner to an ultra runner. He has completed international marathon full courses held in Korea as a basic standard, as well as the 100km North Han River Ultra, 80km Hallasan, 48km Jirisan Hwadae Traverse, 40km Yeongnam Alps, and 50km Dongducheon Korea races.

Since January 2022, he has run at least 10km every day without fail and recorded stories that come to mind on his Naver blog daily. The blog is called "Maettwinam," meaning "The Man Who Runs Every Day."

The book contains daily reflections from running over 3,650km in one year. Whether it rains or snows, whether the weather is hot or cold, or even when suffering from a hangover and feeling unwell, he says it would be more horrible not to run, so he diligently runs today as well. The author, who still runs an average of over 10km daily, conveys the message through the book to start running right now.
