On the 5th (local time), Kang Sung-hoon scored 4 under par in the final 4th round of the PGA Tour AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (total prize money $9 million) held at Pebble Beach Golf Links in California, USA (par 72, 6,972 yards), rising to a tie for 28th place (7 under par, 280 strokes). Due to bad weather the previous day followed by sunset, the tournament schedule was disrupted, and only 20 of the 75 players who advanced to the final round completed their rounds.
Kang Sung-hoon recorded 7 birdies and 3 bogeys. After 'stepping stone birdies' on holes 11 and 13 and consecutive birdies on holes 15 and 16, he took a brief breather with a bogey on the 17th hole (par 3). In the back nine, he lost a birdie on the 2nd hole (par 5) to a bogey on the 3rd hole (par 4), but showed resilience with consecutive birdies on holes 5 and 6. However, a bogey on the 8th hole (par 4) was regrettable. He relied on a green hit rate of 72.22% and an average of 1.538 putts per hole.
Kang Sung-hoon debuted on the PGA Tour in 2011 and earned one victory at the AT&T Byron Nelson in May 2019. Notably, he drew attention by setting the course record of 60 strokes at this tournament in 2016. Although he suffered the humiliation of missing the cut in all four tournaments this season, he ranked in the mid-tier for the first time on this day.
Justin Rose (England) shot 3 under par over 9 holes to lead by 2 strokes (15 under par). Peter Malnati (USA) and two others are tied for 2nd place (13 under par). Viktor Hovland (Norway) is tied for 13th (9 under par), Kim Sung-hyun tied for 33rd (6 under par), An Byeong-hoon tied for 40th (5 under par), defending champion Tom Hoge tied for 55th (2 under par), and Jordan Spieth (USA) and Noh Seung-yeol are tied for 67th (1 over par).
