[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Busan City is recruiting 110 members for the ‘2023 Busan City New Media Members (Citizen Reporters)’ by the 17th to deliver vivid news of Busan that matches the citizens' perspective.
This year, the city is marking the first year of a great leap toward becoming a ‘Global Hub City Busan’ and is promoting future vision projects such as the ‘2030 Busan World Expo Bid,’ ‘Gadeokdo New Airport Construction,’ and ‘Nakdong River Water Source Diversification Project’ to lead Busan’s transformation.
The city plans to recruit and operate this year’s New Media Members, who will serve as the ‘eyes and ears of Busan City,’ at the largest scale ever (60 members in 2022) so that citizens can directly see and feel these major changes and play a central role in communication with the public.
In addition to Busan’s changes, the city has diversified detailed fields by sector to cover various topics such as culture, tourism, and travel. This year, the recruitment is divided into two sections: Social Network Service (SNS) and YouTube, with 80 and 30 members respectively, totaling 110 members.
For the ‘Social Network Service (SNS) section,’ to quickly deliver diverse news of Busan, it will be operated in five fields: existing blog reporters, photo reporters, foreign reporters, expatriate reporters, and SNS reporters.
The ‘YouTube section’ is subdivided into three fields: video planning, filming and editing, and video appearance to strengthen expertise. In addition to video content production activities, members can participate in various activities such as appearing as citizen reporters on live broadcasts conducted on Busan City’s YouTube channel, ‘BusanTube.’
Selected New Media Members will create blog, YouTube, and SNS content on various topics in their respective sections and fields for about 10 months from March to December, participate in monthly planning meetings and workshops (hereinafter Members Day), and receive manuscript fees when their content or articles are adopted.
Applications can be submitted by filling out and submitting an online application form via Google Forms.
Busan City will evaluate communication, operation, and development capabilities through document screening and telephone interviews, finalize the selection of this year’s New Media Members, and announce the successful candidates on February 28 through the Busan City website, blog, and individual contact.
City spokesperson Yoonbin Na said, “The city’s blog and YouTube play a central role as communication channels with Busan citizens,” adding, “To strengthen this role, it is necessary to deliver Busan’s news more diversely and deeply through the eyes of Busan citizens. We ask for great interest in this New Media Members recruitment and look forward to many capable applicants.”
