[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The mismatch of manpower is a chronic problem in the job market. Job seekers lack information about companies, and companies do not know what job seekers want. Often, it is unclear what kind of talent companies are looking for and what qualifications job seekers need to have. As a result, job seekers hesitate to apply to companies, and companies fail to secure the desired workforce. Linkareer is a career platform for university students and job seekers designed to solve these difficulties.

No Eun-don, CEO of Linkareer (photo), recently said in an interview with Asia Economy, "The mismatch in the job market often occurs due to information asymmetry between companies and job seekers," adding, "We hope that both sides can freely communicate on Linkareer to resolve this information imbalance." Linkareer is a combination of the words Link and Career. It signifies the role of creating an open recruitment culture that connects new job seekers and companies. The Linkareer site, launched in 2016, started as an in-house venture of the employment education specialist company 'SpecUpAd' and completed corporate registration in June 2020.

As word of mouth spread rapidly among university students and young job seekers, the company began generating profits within a year of its incorporation. In 2021, it recorded annual sales of 5.3 billion KRW and an operating profit of 500 million KRW. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, more job seekers have turned to Linkareer to obtain information about the job market. Demand for new hires has also increased among small and medium-sized enterprises and startups in non-face-to-face and quarantine-related industries. Monthly active users (MAU) have surpassed 2 million, and the number of corporate members is approaching 10,000.

CEO No witnessed changes in the industrial structure while studying stocks during his university days. He served as president of an investment club at Seoul National University while majoring in philosophy. "When manufacturing was the main industry, large-scale public recruitment was conducted uniformly. Now, as advanced IT companies occupy the top ranks in market capitalization, it has become important to hire good talent by assessing individual abilities and aptitudes." The practice of ranking candidates based on exam scores has disappeared, and companies now evaluate personal experience, career, extracurricular activities, and portfolios rather than age or academic background. The marketing team leader at Linkareer is also a young talent aged 27 this year. He actively used the Linkareer platform and was hired here three years ago.

From AI interview reviews to 17,000 successful self-introduction letters, Linkareer provides a communication space where job seekers can share the entire process from application to hiring. Although self-introduction letters with unclear sources circulate on the internet, Linkareer only accepts verified materials confirmed by acceptance announcement screens and employee ID cards. Partner companies can post company introductions and freely communicate with job seekers. Like Instagram, job seekers can follow companies of interest to receive updates and communicate with HR managers in real time. The plan is to enhance the push notification function in the future app to promote interaction between companies and job seekers.

CEO No’s motto is 'Ubo Cheonri (牛步千里),' meaning "a steady pace covers a thousand miles." It reflects his determination to steadily run the business by focusing on the essence without rushing. He does not intend to be greedy to grow the company’s size. CEO No said, "I see startups that receive investments and spend heavily on marketing," but added, "I will not be swayed by such trends and will faithfully lead the company with the goal of solving problems in the job market." He pledged, "I will respond agilely to the changing recruitment market."
