T'way Air Holds Inaugural Ceremony for Incheon-Sydney Route Launch

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] T'way Air held an event on the 2nd to commemorate its new flight launch in Sydney, Australia, and to strengthen its local network and secure competitiveness.


The event, held at a hotel in downtown Sydney, was attended by T'way Air CEO Jeong Hong-geun and employees, as well as officials from the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Sydney, New South Wales Tourism Board, state government, Sydney Airport, local travel agencies, and Australian airline Virgin Australia, among other related organizations.

In his speech, CEO Jeong stated, "We plan to build a local route network and secure competitiveness by cooperating with local airlines in Australia," adding, "We will contribute to expanding exchanges between the two countries and strive to create economic added value such as revitalizing the tourism industry."


Jeff Culbert, CEO of Sydney Airport, and Scott Farlow, member of the New South Wales Parliament, who attended the event, welcomed T'way Air's launch and expressed their commitment to work together to promote tourism in the state and Sydney, as well as to expand human and material exchanges.

On December 23 of last year, T'way Air launched a direct flight route between Incheon and Sydney. They deployed an A330-300 (347 seats) aircraft four times a week, contributing to an increase in seat supply. After the launch, the route recorded an average load factor of over 90%. Currently, the airline operates this route four times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday), and from March 27, it will continue to operate three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) during the summer season.
