Hi Investment & Securities "ChatGPT Will Lead AI Popularization and Productivity Improvement in the Knowledge Economy"

ChatGPT enables interactive conversations rather than one-sided commands. It is expected that AI services can be commercialized, with versatility being the core competitiveness. ChatGPT operates by exchanging dialogues and, with a single text input, can produce or transform results such as writing, composing, coding, or drawing.

OpenAI announced through its blog that it plans to introduce a paid ChatGPT service within a few weeks at the earliest. The existing ChatGPT remains free to use as it is now, but the intention is to provide faster and more stable services to paid users. The ChatGPT Plus subscription, priced at $20 per month, allows users to receive faster responses from AI and access AI services even during peak usage times.

Additionally, OpenAI plans to soon release an application programming interface (API) that enables companies to apply ChatGPT to their own applications. Various pricing plans, including enterprise ChatGPT services, are being considered.

Lee Sang-heon, a researcher at Hi Investment & Securities, explained, "Many high-performance AIs that have appeared so far were for academic and research purposes, and AI applied to various industries such as distribution and manufacturing and IT infrastructure was not popular. However, now anyone can directly use AI like ChatGPT and pay for it."

He added, "The popularization of ChatGPT like this can dramatically improve the productivity of the knowledge economy. ChatGPT, a representative example of generative AI, specializes in writing, and above all, ChatGPT marked the beginning of generative AI."

Recently, generative AI is evaluated to be expanding its scope beyond the text used by ChatGPT to images and audio. While existing AI contributed to reducing simple and repetitive labor, generative AI is influencing artistic work and creation, which were considered uniquely human domains.

The researcher said, "Although the specific approaches used to build generative AI models may differ, ultimately generative AI reproduces human behavior and creates new content based on content already made by humans."

He continued, "The emergence of generative AI will not only drastically reduce the time and cost required for learning but also eliminate the human learning process for acquiring knowledge, thereby dramatically improving the productivity of the knowledge economy and promoting the digital transformation."

Meanwhile, in Korea, Flitto and WiseAitek are cited as stocks related to AI-based business models.
