Barrier-free forest behind the multipurpose gymnasium on Sinjeongsan Dullegil, photographed by drone Today's ten-thousand-step course is the Sinjeongsan Dulle-gil in Yangcheon-gu, where you can experience various forest activities. Sinjeongsan, also known by names such as Gyenam Park and Janggunbong, is the mountain behind the old Sin Tree Village. Although it is low in height, the mountain is deep and the dirt paths are soft, making it beloved by residents from morning till evening.
Sinjeongsan Dulle-gil, developed over seven years starting in 2016, was completed in 2022. The total length is 2.7 km, consisting of ▲an accessible deck trail (2.4 km) ▲a dirt path walking trail (0.3 km) ▲rest areas, and is designed as a 40-minute to 1-hour course for adults. In particular, the accessible deck trail allows children and people with disabilities to use it easily.
The starting point is the Dulle-gil entrance next to Nammyung Elementary School. From Sinjeong Sageori Station Exit 1 on Line 2, walk south and circle around the Sinjeong 3-dong Community Center to reach the main walking trail.
Walking a little while enjoying the poetry and lush trees beside the accessible forest trail, you will come across Darakgol Spring, known for its good-tasting water. Turning back and walking again, you will encounter several forks in the path. If you take the stairway on the left leading to the summit, you can reach Janggunjeong, the summit pavilion of Sinjeongsan.
Janggunjeong, located at the summit of Sinjeongsan (85m), is a two-story octagonal pavilion named after Janggunbong, one of Sinjeongsan’s old names. From Janggunjeong, you can enjoy views of the Mokdong area and Namsan.
Returning to the original Dulle-gil and walking slowly south, near Jangsu Elementary School at the foot of the mountain, you will see many residents enjoying the park’s outdoor stage, sports field, badminton courts, children's playground, and fitness center. Passing this area and reaching the ecological passage fork, you will find Jeongnang Hill. Jeongnang Hill is said to have gotten its name from an attempt to designate a royal tomb nearby, originally called Jeongneung Hill, with the name changing over time.
Continuing eastward, you will pass a flat and cozy dirt path and a flower-filled deck trail, arriving behind the multipurpose gymnasium. This area is a children's forest experience site under large trees such as the large king oak and Chinese maple, where young children can freely play and connect with nature while taking a rest.
From the children's forest, walking east again along the accessible forest trail will bring you back to the Dulle-gil entrance where you started your walk. Along the trail, ‘100 Selected Plants Found on Sinjeongsan Dulle-gil’ signboards are placed intermittently, making it suitable for studying trees. If you feel reluctant to end your walk here, you can cross just one crosswalk to enjoy a cup of coffee at Sin Tree Neighborhood Park, one of the five major parks in Mokdong New Town, or walk through Mokdong Gaon-gil (3.3 km), a car-free street passing through the center of Mokdong, connecting the park and the central Mokdong area.
