[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, fiercely criticized the Yoon Suk-yeol administration on the 4th, one day before the "100th day since the Itaewon disaster," saying, "I am angry at this government's irresponsible and heartless behavior that turns ordinary bereaved families into fighters."

On the same day, at the "100th Day Memorial Ceremony for the Itaewon Disaster" held in front of Seoul City Hall in the afternoon, Lee said, "Complete healing from the disaster must begin with an unreserved investigation and punishment of those responsible."

Lee criticized, "There are bereaved families who have not yet reported the deaths because they could not say goodbye to their beloved sons," adding, "Nevertheless, state power thoroughly ignored the desperate wishes of the bereaved families and completely trampled on their wounds."

He continued, "The state's responsibility was missing before, during, and even after the disaster," and pointed out, "Seoul City even coldly rejected the bereaved families' wish to have a small space to honor the victims today."

Lee said, "We will definitely hold accountable those responsible for turning what should have been an ordinary weekend for the victims, bereaved families, and all citizens on 'October 29' last year into pain, and reveal the truth. I will fight together until the end for this."
