'Google Parent Company' Alphabet CEO: "Launching a Search Chatbot Competing with ChatGPT Within Weeks"

According to CNBC and others, CEO Pichai said during a conference call following Google's Q4 earnings announcement that day that language programs can be used as companions for search. He emphasized, "We are just beginning our AI journey" and "We have not yet reached the peak."

Foreign media reported the day before, citing sources, that Google is conducting the so-called 'Atlas Project,' testing a chatbot called 'Apprentice Bard' using LaMDA. This chatbot is known to have similar functions to OpenAI's ChatGPT, which has recently become a global sensation.

Earlier, Google issued a 'Code Red' alert internally at the end of last year in response to ChatGPT. Accelerating chatbot development is also for this reason. CEO Pichai said in December last year, "2023 will be a turning point regarding how AI is used in chat and search," adding, "We will not only make dramatic progress but also launch new products."

Google's competitor, Microsoft (MS), has revealed plans to utilize AI technology from startup OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, including integrating ChatGPT into its search engine Bing. Bloomberg reported that the industry's attention is focused on whether MS's AI utilization moves could pose a meaningful challenge to the search engine market dominated by Google.
