Busan Office of Education Implements Regular Personnel Changes for 4,308 Teachers

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Duyul] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education conducted the regular personnel appointments effective March 1 for a total of 4,308 teachers on the 3rd, including 11 public senior teachers and 4,297 teachers from kindergartens, elementary, middle, and special schools.


The number of personnel by school level is 9 senior teachers in elementary and 2 in middle schools, and teachers include 182 in kindergarten, 2,571 in elementary, 1,425 in middle, and 119 in special schools.


The early announcement of this personnel appointment was a measure to allow teachers who will be transferred in the new semester to participate in the "February New School Year Joint Preparation Month" intensive operation period at their newly assigned schools.


It is also to enable each school level to establish systematic educational plans and operate the new school year curriculum more substantively and stably.

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education reflected teachers' requests as much as possible in this personnel appointment to operate a rational personnel system.


For elementary school teachers, up to six months of childcare leave taken after March 1, 2022, can be counted toward their service period for transfer according to their wishes, and additional points for teachers supporting children not enrolled in elementary school were subdivided.


Also, transfer additional points for kindergarten teachers and non-curricular teachers such as health and nutrition working at newly established schools (kindergartens) were adjusted to strive for rational transfers with high field suitability.


Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, "This personnel appointment was conducted transparently and rationally by reflecting field opinions as much as possible to provide customized education that cultivates students' future competencies and create conditions for teachers to focus on educational activities."


He added, "We will continue to communicate with field teachers and do our best to create a personnel system that everyone can empathize with and trust."


Personnel appointments for kindergarten principals, elementary, middle, and special school principals, and education professionals in management positions will be announced at 2 p.m. on the 8th.
