Listening to Challenges for Industrial Revitalization
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] On the 3rd, Han Changseop, Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, visited the planned site of Hyundai Motor Company's new electric vehicle factory located in Ulsan Metropolitan City to listen to difficulties in revitalizing the electric vehicle industry.
Before the on-site visit, Vice Minister Han attended the ‘2023 Core Leaders Academy’ hosted by Ulsan Metropolitan City, where he emphasized the core national values on the theme of ‘An Era of Change and Innovation, Major National Tasks and Policies’ to Ulsan public officials and others.
At this event, Vice Minister Han said, “Only when the central and local governments unite can the people enjoy a better life and overcome the complex crisis of livelihood and economy,” and “For this, I urge the active efforts and dedication of public officials to promote national tasks.”
The new electric vehicle factory in Ulsan, scheduled to be built by 2025, is a factory Hyundai Motor is establishing in the Ulsan area for the first time in 34 years to respond to global electric vehicle demand.
Vice Minister Han Changseop of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety stated, “Electric vehicles, along with secondary batteries and semiconductors, are future industries of the Republic of Korea, and it is important to create an ecosystem for the domestic electric vehicle industry and to secure a leading position in the global market,” adding, “The Ministry of the Interior and Safety will also look into whether there are any support needs for the development of the electric vehicle industry.”
