[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Choi] Naver announced that it will launch a search service called 'Search GPT' utilizing generative artificial intelligence (AI) like Chat GPT in the first half of this year.
On the 3rd, Naver CEO Su-yeon Choi said during the Q4 earnings conference call, "We are preparing countermeasures for new search trends such as generative AI, which has recently attracted much attention."
CEO Choi stated, "Lack of reliability and up-to-dateness, as well as decreased accuracy caused by translating English-based development models from overseas companies into Korean, are cited as drawbacks of generative AI," adding, "We are confident that by combining abundant user data with Naver's technical know-how, we can solve problems that are difficult to address with existing search."
CEO Choi also said, "We are conducting internal experiments to improve the quality of search results and users' content consumption experience," and "Our goal is to introduce Naver's upgraded search experience, 'Search GPT,' within the first half of this year."
