Muan-gun Opens After-School Service Centers for Developmentally Disabled in Namak and Oryong

Resolving Blind Spots in After-School Care

[Muan＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] On the 2nd, Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do announced the opening of the Namak·Oryong Developmental Disabilities Day Activity and After-School Service Center.

The event was attended by County Governor Kim San, County Council Chairman Kim Kyung-hyun, and Provincial Assemblyman Na Gwang-guk.

Until now, there was no service center for people with developmental disabilities in the Namak·Oryong area, causing inconvenience to the disabled and their parents, who had to use centers located in other areas such as Mokpo or in Muan-eup.

Accordingly, the Muan-gun Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled was designated to operate the Day Activity and After-School Service Center in Namak, Samhyang-eup, and began providing services from the 1st.

The center aims to activate the independence and community participation of developmental disabled individuals in Namak·Oryong, develop day activity programs that meet diverse needs, and support various programs for adolescent developmental disabled individuals such as hobbies and leisure, job exploration, independence preparation, viewing and experience, and self-help activities, thereby resolving the blind spots in after-school care.

Governor Kim San said, "People with developmental disabilities and their parents in the Namak·Oryong area had to endure the inconvenience of using centers in other regions," and added, "With the opening of the service center by the Muan-gun Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled, it will contribute to the welfare improvement of the disabled."

He also added, "I am grateful to Director Park Seong-nam and the staff who worked hard in preparation, and we will continue to do our best to provide services that meet the welfare needs of the disabled."
