Jeon Ok-hyun, Jeonnam Provincial Assembly Member, Leads Proposal to Prohibit Workplace Bullying

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The "Jeonnam Office of Education Workplace Harassment Prohibition Ordinance," proposed by Jo Ok-hyun, a member of the Jeonnam Provincial Assembly (Democratic Party of Korea·Mokpo 2), passed the Education Committee review on the 2nd.


This ordinance aims to protect and eradicate workplace harassment among the Jeonnam Office of Education, its affiliated institutions, and school faculty and staff, and to create a workplace culture of mutual respect.

The main contents include conducting workplace harassment prevention education at least once a year and operating a reporting center for reporting, investigation, counseling, and promoting systems related to workplace harassment victims.


It also stipulates various measures to eradicate workplace harassment, such as psychological counseling and medical support for victims, and requires reflecting the results of surveys conducted on faculty and staff in policies.


Assemblyman Jo Ok-hyun said, "Workplace harassment severely damages work motivation and is as serious as character assassination," adding, "I hope this ordinance will eradicate workplace harassment and foster a healthy workplace culture of mutual respect and consideration."


This ordinance is scheduled to be finalized after the plenary session vote of the Jeonnam Provincial Assembly on the 10th.
