During the sharing meeting, various opinions were exchanged regarding the development direction of the Future Education Center, along with reports on overseas materials collected in August last year and the status of the establishment project.
Earlier, the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education formed a Future Education Center Program and Content Development Team to develop programs that move away from the traditional knowledge delivery format and recognize and practice the values of sustainable development education.
Also, starting in March, a "2023 Ulsan Future Education Center Establishment On-site Support Group," composed of elementary, middle, and high school teachers, will be formed to support program and content development.
The Future Education Center is a project learning center and sustainable development education center that uses future-oriented spaces and content to experience and educate on various human issues through project-based learning methods linked to school classes.
It passed the joint investment review by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety in May 2021, and is being constructed on the site of the former Gangdong Elementary School in Buk-gu, Ulsan, with a budget of 49.8 billion KRW, aiming to open in November 2025.
The main building’s first floor will be an experience space, the second floor a project space, the third floor an adventure-type experience space, and the annex will include a library and other facilities.
An official from the city’s Office of Education said, “We are dedicating ourselves to developing programs and content that are fun and immersive while maximizing educational effectiveness so that the Ulsan Future Education Center can serve as a catalyst for cultivating students’ future competencies.”
