CJ Logistics Accelerates Corporate Culture Innovation: "Introducing Flexible Seating and Rest Areas"

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] CJ Logistics is changing its way of working, starting with the relocation of its headquarters at the end of last year.


CJ Logistics announced on the 2nd that upon moving into the Jongno Tower 8 Building, it created an environment to change the way of working in line with the innovative technology company the company aims to be.


The biggest changes are the establishment of a smart office system and a free seating system.


Both work laptops and phones are based on wireless connections. The company is also actively encouraging the use of smart electronic whiteboards to eliminate paper. They plan to expand paperless meetings by wirelessly connecting laptop screens to the electronic whiteboard during meetings. The smart electronic whiteboard has functions such as internet search, video conferencing, and video display, allowing it to be used for various purposes.


In particular, with the introduction of the free seating system, employees can choose and use seats such as a library-style focused seat, an open collaboration seat without partitions, or a caf?-type window seat according to their preference and schedule. Smart name tags are attached to desks, so when a user makes a reservation, their name and team are automatically displayed, and the user's phone number is automatically assigned to the phone at the seat. Seat reservations can be made via a smartphone app or kiosk.

Previously, employees worked at designated seats divided by teams. However, now multiple team members sit mixed on each floor. Team leaders gather in separate designated areas to work. Team meetings or individual communication among team members for work use messengers, separate collaboration rooms, and seats for meetings.


The 24th floor, the top floor of the building, includes a customer lounge, meeting rooms, a break room equipped with massage chairs, and individual seats by the glass windows for relaxation.


Although some employees still prefer the traditional designated seating system, MZ generation employees are showing very positive responses to the flexible and autonomous work environment that allows for a flexible work style, and gradual changes are occurring.


A CJ Logistics official said, "We are supporting all members to deliver their best performance by fostering a flexible and horizontal organizational culture befitting an innovative technology company."


Meanwhile, CJ Logistics is accelerating the establishment of an innovative organizational culture by introducing systems such as a leader recruitment system that selects leader-level positions through internal open recruitment, and a smart flexible working system that allows employees to adjust their daily commuting times or total weekly working hours according to their work characteristics and lifestyle.
