At around 1:30 a.m. on October 26 last year, a Porsche with its high beams on sped down the Honam Expressway, crashed into a 4.5-ton truck ahead, and came to a stop.
At the time, Mr. A, worried about having caused a drunk driving accident, fled into the forest beside the expressway, crouched down, and hid.
Later, the truck driver, who was looking for the driver of the accident vehicle, found Mr. A hiding in the forest with a flashlight.
When the truck driver asked, "Who was driving?" Mr. A replied, "I was."
However, when told, "Your friend is dying. Come out quickly," Mr. A went to the accident scene, saw his friend Mr. B lying down, and changed his story, saying, "That friend was driving." Mr. B had already died from the impact of the accident, lying cold on the ground.
Mr. A's lie was uncovered through a police investigation. The police secured closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage confirming that Mr. A and Mr. B had been drinking at a bar in Wanju County, after which Mr. A got into the driver's seat and Mr. B into the passenger seat.
