[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will provide elementary and middle school textbooks for the first time to out-of-school youth preparing for the qualification exam starting in March.
This textbook support is part of the ‘Hope Ladder Education Support for Students Together’ program and is intended to assist the learning of out-of-school youth aged 9 to 24 whose final enrolled school is located in Busan and who are preparing for the qualification exam.
Textbook applications can be made year-round starting in March on the Busan Office of Education website.
To apply, submit an application form indicating grade and subject on the city education office website, and then present an ID such as a resident registration card or youth ID at the education support office where you wish to receive the textbooks to collect them.
For more details, check the ‘News - Recruitment/Exam Information - Qualification Exam Textbook Application’ section on the city education office website.
The Busan Office of Education also plans to provide high school textbooks to out-of-school youth preparing for the high school qualification exam as early as May.
Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, “Although the number of out-of-school youth is increasing every year, support and interest from our society remain insufficient. Our education office will faithfully perform the role of a ladder connecting inside and outside of schools through active learning support so that out-of-school youth can return to their studies at any time.”
