[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Samsung Medical Center announced on the 31st that it has launched the country's first 'Mobile Issuance Service for Medical Record Copies.'
Samsung Medical Center was the first medical institution in Korea to start issuing medical record copies through its hospital website in 2019. With this new mobile issuance service, patients can download medical record copies, which previously required PC application and paper printing, in PDF format, greatly enhancing convenience.
When launching the mobile service, Samsung Medical Center paid special attention to patient information security. A 'TSA' (Time Stamping Authority) electronic signature certification stamp was applied to prove the authenticity of the medical record copies and to verify the issuance time. This prevents forgery and allows patients to confirm the authenticity, enabling them to use the service with confidence.
Patient satisfaction is also high. Since the pilot operation began in October last year, the hospital explained that the average daily number of service applications has reached about 100, accounting for approximately 11% of all medical record copy issuances, and the trend is continuously increasing.
Lee Poong-ryeol, Head of the Digital Innovation Promotion Team and Professor of Gastroenterology at Samsung Medical Center, said, "The advancement of the online medical record copy issuance service is another example of the 'customer experience' innovation that Samsung Medical Center aims for," adding, "We expect the inconvenience of having to visit the hospital in person and wait to receive medical record copies to be further reduced."
