Over 100 Sign-ups Per Hour for 11 Years and 4 Months
Cumulative Free Beverage Benefits Exceed 190 Million Cups
Starbucks Korea's loyalty program, 'Starbucks Rewards,' has celebrated its 12th anniversary this year, surpassing 10 million members.
According to Starbucks on the 31st, the total number of reward stars accumulated by the 10 million members has reached 1.53 billion, and the free beverage benefits provided to reward members, including member-exclusive birthday drink coupons and coupons given every time 12 stars are accumulated, have exceeded 190 million drinks in total.
Launched in September 2011, Starbucks Rewards is a loyalty program that offers various benefits to customers using Starbucks cards. The 10 million members represent a figure where more than 100 people have joined as members every hour for 11 years and 4 months since Starbucks started the rewards service. This corresponds to one in five people in South Korea's population (approximately 51.56 million).
To celebrate surpassing 10 million members, Starbucks will hold a customer appreciation event from the 1st to the 7th of next month, where all Starbucks Rewards members who purchase handcrafted beverages with their registered Starbucks card from 10 a.m. until store closing will receive up to 5 additional stars per drink. Members who reach the Starbucks Welcome Level during the event period will receive an additional 5 stars.
Baek Ji-woong, Starbucks' planning manager, said, "The greatest driving force behind Starbucks' growth as a beloved brand has been the continuous interest and support from Starbucks Rewards members," adding, "We will continue to think about services and benefits for customers to create a rewards program that delivers the best Starbucks experience."
